L'evento “Water for Life”, organizzato nell’Istituto italiano di Cultura di New York in occasione della Giornata Mondiale dell’Acqua, è incentrato sul rapporto tra Sviluppo Sostenibile e un uso efficiente e consapevole dell'acqua. Uno specifico riferimento di come Acquedotto Pugliese, da oltre un secolo, garantisce uno sviluppo sostenibile nella Regione Puglia e nel Sud Italia.
L'evento vede la partecipazione in presenza di una delegazione di Acquedotto Pugliese, della Regione Puglia, della Ambasciata d'Italia presso l'ONU e altri Istituti Internazionali.
“Water for Life” tratta su più livelli temi di governance, manageriale e scientifico, della sostenibilità e del necessario impegno diffuso e trasversale per affrontare la crisi climatica in corso:
- Utilizzo e riutilizzo delle acque reflue depurate;
- Buona gestione delle risorse idriche anche attraverso l'uso dell'IA e delle tecnologie emergenti;
- Acqua come fonte di energia:
- Produzione di biogas;
- Produzione di H2 da acqua depurata.
All’interno dell’evento l'assegnazione del Secondo Premio Water for Life promosso da Acquedotto Pugliese S.p.A. Il premio ha l'obiettivo di valorizzare e dare impulso alle iniziative di Paesi, Personalità, Istituzioni e Associazioni, che contribuiscono a diffondere la cultura della sostenibilità sviluppo, con particolare riferimento alla tutela e valorizzazione delle acque.
La nuova edizione vanta una giuria internazionale composta da Unione per il Mediterraneo, UNIDO ITPO Italia, UNIDROIT, Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione.
La prima edizione del premio è stata assegnata nel 2022 allo scrittore e regista di documentari islandese Andri Snær Magnasson a Dubai Export.
The event “Water for Life” is focused on the relationship between Sustainable Development and an efficient and aware use of water with specific reference on how AQP has been ensuring sustainable development in the Apulia Region and Southern Italy for over a century.
During the event the topics are discussed on several levels, of governance, managerial and scientific along with the themes of sustainability and the necessary widespread and transversal commitment to face the ongoing climate crisis.
Topics include:
- Utilization and reuse of purified wastewater;
- Good management of water resources including through the use of AI and emerging technologies;
- Water as an energy source:
- Biogas production;
- H2 production from purified water.
The event is also an occasion for the assignment of the Second Water for Life Award promoted by Acquedotto Pugliese S.p.A.. The award has the objective of enhancing and boosting initiatives of Countries, Personalities, Institutions and Associations, which contribute to spreading the culture of sustainable development, with particular reference to the protection and enhancement of water.
The first edition of the prize was awarded in 2022 to Icelandic writer and documentary film director Andri Snær Magnasson at Dubai Expo2020.
The new edition is awarded by an international jury consisting of the Union for the Mediterranean, UNIDO ITPO Italy, UNIDROIT, the Italian agency for Cooperation. The acknowledgment is assigned for the commitment towards an aware and responsible use of the water resource.
The event is personally attended by representatives of AQP team, the Apulia Region, the Embassy of Italy to the United Nations, Italian Agency for Cooperation, UNIDO and international institutes, among others. "Water for life" is in collaboration with the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO -ITPO), the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies-Bari Instiute (CIHEAM), The Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED) and the Polytechnic of Bari (POLIBA).
