Reuse is our most important resource to combat the water crisis. Through purification, used water is transformed into new lifeblood for land and agriculture.
Reuse for Agriculture
Acquedotto Pugliese is committed to making the reuse of treated water routinely operational in the facilities it manages. To date, there are already five facilities that return water to the land for irrigation, and they are located in the following cities:
Additionally, 7 other facilities are potentially capable of supporting agriculture. About 37 more treatment facilities will soon be added as part of infrastructure enhancement efforts.
The reuse for flora and fauna
The use of drainage trenches has promoted the creation of wetlands, which have effectively been transformed into oases for the feeding and reproduction of resident or migratory species of great naturalistic interest.
