The BioLubridge project, financed by the European program LIFE, addresses the environmental issues of sewage sludge treatment and production of material in wastewater treatment plants.
It fits into the virtuous path of promoting circular economy, in which the production of secondary raw materials is a key element in maximizing the value of resources.
The project involves the valorization of sewage sludge, with the recovery of its chemical potential through the extraction of lipid compounds that are transformed into bio-lubricants.
The process also involves reducing the volume of residual sludge to be disposed of. In addition, the sludge is stripped of its lipid fraction and is dehydrated, limiting the use of polyelectrolytes.
